The Study
Series collection was launched in 1995 as a
vehicle for disseminating the work of the International Committees
(see also the list of publications
for sale). Eleven issues have been produced
to date:
The
Study Series is sent free of charge to all ICOM members.
Each issue is devoted to one of ICOM's International Committees,
and proposes to give an account of the state of affairs
in the specialism concerned. The 32-page publication is
trilingual (English/French/Spanish), with the languages
distributed proportionately across the volume. Each article
is accompanied by a summary in the two other languages.
International Committees submit their publication projects
to the Executive Council. Once the latter has given its
approval, the International Committees then take charge
of the specialist aspects of the publication. They are responsible
for choosing and contacting the authors, taking care to
ensure that their particular field and their working groups
as a whole are given a fair representation. International
committees take care of copyright for the texts and photographs
to be published. They also manage translations. The final
manuscript is then submitted by Email or on disk to the
ICOM Secretariat, which is responsible for publication.
