茶道入門　 Introduction to the Way of Tea

茶道初心者にむけて、製茶図や茶の湯の点前を描いた絵画、棗の工程見本などのほか、お茶を楽しむための茶道具を展示します。海外の方も理解を深めることができるよう、日本語と英語でわかりやすく解説します。また、英語解説付きで自身でお茶を点てたり、茶臼で碾茶を挽く体験や茶室に入るワークショップなどを開催します。 For newcomers to chadō—Japan’s “Way of Tea” or, to put it in different terms, “the art of enjoying matcha”—this exhibition presents illustrations of the tea manufacturing process, paintings depicting people engaged in the preparation and serving of matcha, step-by-step models of the crafting of a “natsume” type container for the powdered green tea, and examples of implements used in the art of enjoying matcha. To help enable foreign visitors to deepen their understanding, plain and simple explanations are provided in both Japanese and English. Additionally, workshops and the like will be held by English-speaking instructors, for participants to try their hand at preparing a bowl of matcha, and at milling powdered tea using a tea mill, as well as for them to experience sitting within a traditional style tea room.
